Class Descriptions:

Personal Financial Planning - When you set goals, you're defining your dreams for the future. Some goals may be things that you want soon, like paying off your credit card debt or buying a new car. Other goals may be more distant. Do you want to buy or build a new home? Start your own business? Pay for college for your child or grandchild? Retire early? Your goals are the foundation of your financial plan because you need to know what you want to accomplish before you begin saving or investing. Once you've identified and prioritized your financial goals, you can develop a clear-cut savings or investment strategy that can help turn your dreams into reality.

Retirement Planning Basics - Americans are living longer, healthier lives than ever before. We're retiring earlier and doing more in our retirement years. Many of us look forward to retirement as a reward for a lifetime of hard work; we see an opportunity to spend time with loved ones, pursue hobbies, and travel. Some of us will start new careers. Others will go back to school. The one thing that we have in common is the fact that we all want to be financially independent. A realistic retirement strategy can help make this a reality.

College Planning Basics - We all know the benefits of a college education-the ability to compete in today's competitive job market, increased earning power, and expanded horizons. But, if you're like most parents, there are a lot of demands competing for your hard-earned dollars:

  • The costs associated with a new baby or growing children
  • Monthly mortgage or rent payments
  • Monthly car payments
  • Contributions to your retirement plans
  • Your own student loans
  • Maybe even a nice vacation now and then
Add in the costs of bills and unforeseen emergencies, and it's hard to imagine how you might fit in saving for college too. And yet, it's imperative that you start your child's college fund as soon as you can. This class will hopefully get you motivated to start the basic planning for your loved one. We will discuss prepaid tuition, as well as college savings and the funds to accomplish either.
